Cultural Insight
Eric: Now it's time for a quick cultural insight.

Eric: And that’s all for this lesson. Don’t forget to check out the lesson notes, and we’ll see you in the next lesson!

How would you say 'Do you have a book?'

Hi Orsi,

Thanks for commenting!

Your phrases are correct, well done! 😄

Just to clarify, the second version you wrote (יש עליך ספר) would probably not be used in this context. When we ask "יש עליך..." we usually refer to some tool or something useful for some action. A book hardly counts as such object usually... (a guidbook could, though).

Is that clear? let me know if you have any questions 👍

Hi Shelley and Stana,

Thanks for commenting!

@Shelley - well done! your phrase is correct 👍

@Stana - Good work. One note regarding "הספר" - this phrasing is a little obscure and old-fashioned. To ask if the person has "this book" we would say: יש לך את הספר הזה.

Happy to assist!

Roi
