Lesson Transcript

Hi, everybody!
Do you know what monsters Israeli people are scared of? In this lesson, you'll learn about three scary monsters in Israel.
Let’s start with the most popular monster.
גולם
[slowly] גולם
It means a man of clay.
A golem is very strong and made of mud.
Magic is used to bring the mud monster to life. It is made to serve, but often it brings chaos to its master and his community.
That's pretty interesting, right?
You might have heard about the next monster. The next one is...
בהמות ולויתן
[slowly] בהמות ולויתן
It means as earthly beast and sea monster.
The Behemoth and Leviathan are two primeval monsters.
They are both enormous and powerful creatures. The Behemoth is a land monster, while the Leviathan is a sea monster.
Okay. Here's the last monster.
לילית
[slowly] לילית
Have you heard of this next one? This is the woman of the night.
Lilith is a beautiful demon woman who appears at night.
She seduces innocent men in their dreams. Because she can't have children, Lilith steals infants from their cribs.
Let's wrap up this lesson by recapping what we've learned. Listen to the names of each monster and repeat after me.
