John: Slang Expressions You Can Use As A Response
John: Hi everyone, and welcome back to HebrewPod101.com. I'm John.

John: This is Must-Know Hebrew Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 22. In this lesson, you'll learn slang expressions you can use as a response.
John: With these expressions, you can respond to something you just heard.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
John: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Katja: לך על זה! (lekh al ze)
Katja: איזה קטע (eize keta )
Katja: חזק (khazak)
Katja: לך תדע (lekh teda)
John: Katja, what's our first expression?
Katja: לך על זה! (lekh al ze)
John: literally meaning "go on it." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "Go for it!"
Katja: [SLOW] לך על זה! [NORMAL] לך על זה!
John: Listeners, please repeat.
Katja: לך על זה!

John: Use this slang expression when you want to encourage someone to do something.
John: Now let's hear an example sentence.
Katja: [NORMAL] הצעת העבודה הזו נשמעת טוב, אני אומר לך על זה! [SLOW] הצעת העבודה הזו נשמעת טוב, אני אומר לך על זה!
John: "This job offer sounds good, I say go for it!"

John: Okay, what's the next expression?
Katja: איזה קטע (eize keta )
John: literally meaning "what a segment." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "what a story, or what a coincidence (similar to "no way!")."

John: Use this slang expression when you are surprised or impressed with something you heard.
John: Now let's hear an example sentence.
Katja: [NORMAL] אתה טס מחר ליוון? איזה קטע, גם אני! [SLOW] אתה טס מחר ליוון? איזה קטע, גם אני!
John: "You're flying to Greece tomorrow? No way, so am I!"
Katja: [NORMAL] אתה טס מחר ליוון? איזה קטע, גם אני!
John: Okay, what's our next expression?
Katja: חזק (khazak)
John: literally meaning "strong." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "really good."
Katja: [SLOW] חזק [NORMAL] חזק

John: Use this slang expression when you want to say that something is, or was, really good.
John: Now let's hear an example sentence.

Katja: [NORMAL] ההופעה אתמול היתה חזקה!
John: Okay, what's the last expression?
Katja: לך תדע (lekh teda)
John: literally meaning "go know." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "go figure."
