John: Four Classic Hebrew Slang Terms
John: Hi everyone, and welcome back to HebrewPod101.com. I'm John.

John: This is Must-Know Hebrew Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 19. In this lesson, you'll learn four classic Hebrew slang terms.
John: These old slang terms have become very common in Hebrew.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
John: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Katja: פה מלוכלך (pe melukhlakh)
Katja: ג'סטה (jesta)
Katja: בלאגן (balagan)
Katja: יציאה (yetsia)
John: Katja, what's our first expression?
Katja: פה מלוכלך (pe melukhlakh)
John: literally meaning "a dirty mouth." And when it's used as a slang expression, it also means "a dirty mouth."
Katja: [SLOW] פה מלוכלך [NORMAL] פה מלוכלך
John: Listeners, please repeat.
Katja: פה מלוכלך

John: Use this slang expression when someone curses or speaks disrespectfully; you can also say that he or she has a dirty mouth.

John: "She has such a dirty mouth."

Katja: ג'סטה (jesta)
John: literally meaning "none." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "a favor."

John: Now let's hear an example sentence.

John: "Can you do me a favor and get me something to drink on the way?"

John: Okay, what's our next expression?
Katja: בלאגן (balagan)
John: literally meaning "disorder, turmoil, and chaos." Both in a physical and mental sense. But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "a mess."
Katja: [SLOW] בלאגן [NORMAL] בלאגן

John: Use this slang expression when you want to express a situation or condition that is a mess. You can also use this word to imply "trouble."
John: Now let's hear an example sentence.

John: Okay, what's the last expression?
Katja: יציאה (yetsia)
John: literally meaning "exit." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "a really funny, shocking, or unusual saying."

John: Use this slang expression when you want to refer to something funny, shocking, or really unusual that someone said.
John: Now let's hear an example sentence.
