As any of you studying Hebrew will know, a hugely fun part of learning a new language is all the new food you get to try! Even if you don't cook, listeners, you must have a favourite Hebrew dish. Tell us about it (and how to make it, if you know how!) in either Hebrew or English!

Hi SHIRA,

Thank you very much for commenting and sharing your phrases! well done!

Please accept 2 notes:

1. The word order in Hebrew while using "only": The phrase will be more accurate as:

- אז אני מבשלת *רק* אוכל שאפשר לבשל בסיר אחד או במחבת אחת

- the "only" is placed before the noun and not before the verb in this case. (also, מחבת is feminine)

2. The passive form of "cut" (plural-masculine) is "חתוכים".

Great work, and happy to help 😄!

אני אוהבת לאכול, אבל שונאת לבשל! אז אני רק מבשלת אוכל שאפשר לבשל בסיר אחד או במחבת אחד. אני גם לא אוהבת להשתמש בלוחות חיתוך - אני מעדיפה לקנות כל הפירות וירקות כבר חתיכות.

Aha, the puzzle is coming together. Thank you for clarifying what feels to be redundant.

Hi Shelley,

Thanks for posting.

Glad to be understood ;)

Including "they" again is usually redundant when we alreay refer to an object once "המחבת" = the pan. Adding "they" can be used in other cases though, for example when counting - "אחד ואחד הם שניים" - but not for describing the objects.

I have forwarded you comments.

Roi

Shalom, Roi, Thank you I understand your comments. By repition, I meant the repetition of the pronoun , they, which you didn't include in your rewrite of sentence number three. Careful, the frying pan and the pot, they are hot. On short sentences, it may not be necessary to include "they"?

On sentence 2- I can write "lacking to us forks....? You didn't put "to us" in your rewrite so I am assuming that it is not needed?

Please scroll down and send the editing team, the correction comment.

Thank you for your clarification.

Hi Shelley,

I'll try to answer everything :)

1.You can always add "please" if you wish, but usually instructions are written or little more official and the "please" is not required...

2. yes, the "we" is a mistake, the correct way is to say it is "חסרים לנו..." chaserim lanu.

3. about היזהר - we can write it without the Yud as well, but in regular (non voweled) writing the Yud is helpful.

I'm not sure what you mean by "repetition", can you please explain?

Thanks,

Roi

Thank you, Roi. 1. Interesting about "yesh" For spoken instructions do you still use "yesh"? Did you remove please for a reason? I know that the Israeli's don't use it as much as Americans do. If you are cooking with children and are giving instructions, is it acceptable to use please in the position that I have it, in the middle of the sentence?

2.yes, I see there isn't really a need for "we" in the second sentence, but is it incorrect to put it in?

3. Couldn't remember careful-I see it needs a yud. Is that a command form?

I see the repetition of the pronoun in alot of expansion sentences and always feel unsure about using it. Is it incorrect in short sentences? Any advice on when to use the repetition?

Thank you for your patience, I still have many questions even when I use short sentences!

Will you please forward my other comment to the editing team. Thank you.

Hi Shelley Goldenberg,

Thanks for commenting.

let's correct your translations -

1st - יש להשתמש בלוח חיתוך כדי לתחוך את הירקות הפריכים בבטחה

Starting a sentence with "יש" is usually used for instructions.

2nd - no need for "we" - חסרים מזלגות על המפיות האלה

3rd - היזהר. המחבת והסיר חמים

Roi

Use the cutting board please to cut the crisp vegetables safely.

להשתמש בלוח חיתוף בבקשה כדי לחיתוף את ירוקות הפריכות בבטחה

We are missing forks on these napkins.

אנחנו חסרים מזלגות על המפיות האלה

Be careful. The frying pan and the pot are hot.

הזהר. המחבת והסיר הם חמו

Shalom team, the expansion sentence under plate and fork is missing the word dirty in Hebrew.
