Eric: Welcome to 3-Minute Hebrew Season 1, Lesson 5 - Making Apologies. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to apologize and say that you didn't do something on purpose, or that you’re sorry in Hebrew.
Body
Eric: First you’ll learn how to say 'Excuse me.' in Hebrew.
Yaara: [Normal] סליחה.(slikha.)
Eric: This expression has only one noun meaning 'Excuse me’, or ‘Sorry’.
Yaara: [Normal] סליחה [Slow] סליחה (slikha)
Eric: Listen again to the word meaning 'Excuse me.'
Yaara: [Slow] סליחה. [Normal] סליחה.
Eric: Ok, now let's take a look at the formal way to say 'I apologize.'
Yaara: [Normal] אני מתנצל.(ani mitnatzel.)
Eric: First is a pronoun meaning 'I'
Yaara: [Normal] אני [Slow] אני (ani)
Eric: Last is the verb meaning ‘to apologize'
Yaara: [Normal] מתנצל [Slow] מתנצל(mitnatzel)
Eric: Listen again to the formal phrase meaning 'I apologize.'
Yaara: [Slow] אני מתנצל. [Normal] אני מתנצל.
Eric: Next, we’ll take a look at how to say 'I didn't mean it.'
Yaara: [Normal] לא התכוונתי.(lo hitkavanti.)
Eric: First is an adverb meaning 'No'
Yaara: [Normal] לא [Slow] לא(lo)
Eric: Last is the verb meaning 'I meant’ or ‘I intended'
Yaara: [Normal] התכוונתי [Slow] התכוונתי(hitkavanti)
Eric: Listen again to the phrase meaning 'I didn't mean it.'
Yaara: [Slow] לא התכוונתי. [Normal] לא התכוונתי.
Eric: Finally, we have a way to say 'I'm sorry.'
Yaara: [Normal] אני מצטער.(ani mitz'ta'er.)
Eric: First is a pronoun meaning 'I'
Yaara: [Normal] אני [Slow] אני(ani)
Eric: Last is the verb meaning 'Sorry'
Yaara: [Normal] מצטער [Slow] מצטער(mitz'ta'er)
Eric: Listen again to the phrase meaning 'I'm sorry.'

Cultural Insight
Eric: Now it's time for a quick cultural insight.
Yaara: If you aren’t sure about the proper phrase to use as an apology, it’s always your safest bet to simply use ‘Slikha’. When you apologize in this way, Israeli people will definitely appreciate your politeness.
