Shlaom Edwin,

Thank you for your comment.

We apologize for the delay in answer.

To your question, if the word had niqqud, there is no problem to tell if its an โ€œPโ€ sound or an โ€œFโ€ sound by whether or not it (the letter โ€œpenโ€) has a dot inside it.

With a dot inside ืคึผ = P sound and without a dot inside ืค = F sound.

In case of no niqqud there is really no way to tell but being familiar with the word. The best way to get familiar with words is obviously to read as much as possible.

When its final its always pronounced as "F".

Happy Hebrew learning,

I did NOT receive an answer from yesterday.

How do we know when "peh" is pronounced "p" of "f" when it's in the MIDDLE of a word. Id it only pronounced as "F" when it's final?

Shalom every one. Here is an effective tip for those that want to learn the Aleph-Bet from Aleph to tav inorder. I found songs on youtube called the Aleph-bet songs; this has helped me to look up words in a traditional Hebrew English dictionary. Would it be possible for the Aleph-bet to be posted with the recording tool to help those that want to pronounce it correctly? Todah rabah.

I'd like more spoken material. Not all examples that are mentioned in the notes/transcript are covered in the spoken lesson.
