Chigusa: And how will you make sure you succeed?
Peter: Let us know your strategies in the comments! But...
Chigusa: ...A lot of people fall short... don’t they, Peter?
Peter: They do. If you don’t have the blueprint for setting successful goals....
Chigusa: ... if you don’t know how to stick to your learning routines...
Peter: ...or stay motivated, listeners, your efforts will probably fall flat.
Chigusa: Peter, so what is this “secret” blueprint for setting successful goals?
Peter: Alright, if you want to know how I went from failing my goals years ago, to finally succeeding, and learning Japanese...
Chigusa: Pay attention, because this is a GREAT lesson....
Peter: ...A few simple changes to my goal made a massive difference. In fact, I now apply these to everyday life goals. Not just languages. Because they work so well.
Chigusa: What kinds of changes?
Peter: First, I set measurable goals. Chigusa, most people typically aim for a vague resolution like “This year, I’ll master Japanese or this year I’ll Chinese.”
Chigusa: Yeah, or “This year, I’ll go to the gym”
Peter: But vague goals are problematic. So I started aiming for smaller, more measurable goals, most importantly with deadlines. For example, for January 2019, if I’m learning a new language, my goal is to speak 1 minute of conversation and the deadline would be January 31st, 2019.
Chigusa: Just 1 minute? Oh, yeah, that definitely sounds manageable.
Peter: Right? That’s the point! You can’t lift hundreds of pounds on your first day at the gym...
Chigusa: ...and you can’t expect to be fluent on your first day or your first month.
Peter: But you can start small and build up from there. For February, I’ll aim for 3 minutes. March will be 5. And these will add up, so by the end of the year, I’ll reach 30 minutes of conversation.
Chigusa: That makes a lot of sense.
Peter: So, Listeners, start setting small, monthly goals with a deadline.
Chigusa: Are there any other tips you can give to our listeners for 2019?
Peter: Listeners, write down a small, measurable goal, set a deadline, and put it somewhere you’ll see it every day. I know it sounds strange, but believe it or not, it really keeps you focused.
Chigusa: And that doesn’t just apply to language learning, but any goal you’re trying to achieve in life!
Peter: Chigusa, it really works. So, listeners, take these tips and apply them right now.
Chigusa: And once you do that, we challenge you to master a language in 2019.
Peter: Get started on your New Year’s language resolution today and join our 12-month challenge!
Chigusa: If you join the challenge, not only do you save up to 45%...
Peter: ...you also become part of our Inner Circle and get access to tips, proven methods, and secrets to language mastery.
Chigusa: The Inner Circle is a monthly newsletter with exclusive lessons on how to master a language.
Peter: And of course, you get the best of the features coming in 2019.
Chigusa: So listeners, don’t get left behind.
Peter: Join the challenge right now.

what a great idea to practice to say a verse in a minute. starting off slow and increase minutes in your verses each month.. Great goal.

Great idea. I also heard someone say to start a journal in Hebrew. You'll have to look up a bunch of words at first. You can either mark the ones you had to look up or not, And months down the line, you can look back and see how far you've come. If you didn't mark what words you had to look up, you may not even remember. My Rabbi says we have to start looking up words we don't know that we come across. That's a lot, since we're just beginning and there are a LOT in the Siddur.
