Mmm, food! Even if you don't cook, listeners, you must have a favourite Hebrew dish. Tell us about it (and how to make it, if you know how!) in Hebrew!

Very interesting and tricky to be plural without the plural ending!

Hi Shelley,

The plural - cutting boards is 'ืงืจืฉื™ ื—ื™ืชื•ืš' as you suspected (:

It can come with an apostrophe or without - both ways are acceptable.

I think, then, you wrote the singular when I was trying to do the plural. You put an apostrophy before the s for cutting boards like this- cutting board's which actually means that something belongs to the cutting board-it is singular and shows possession. Maybe this was a typo.

So Roi, is cutting boards- the plural- ืงืจืฉื™ ื—ื™ืชื•ืš or ? I ืงืจืฉื™ ื”ื—ื™ืชื•ื›ื™ื

Hi Shelley,

I see your point.

The singular is ืงืจืฉ ื—ื™ืชื•ืš and the plural is the way it is because it is a construct state.

More example:

Child - ื™ืœื“

Children - ื™ืœื“ื™ื

Children of the kindergarten - ื™ืœื“ื™ ื”ื’ืŸ

Makes more sense now?

Yours,

Roi

Thank you Roi for your encouragement. The plural , cutting boards, does not make sense to me. What is the singular for cutting board?

Hi Shelley,

Thanks for your comments! Great work, just one note - 'cutting board's = ืงืจืฉ ื—ื™ืชื•ืš.

Bake = ืœืืคื•ืช (with ื, not ืข)

A recipe that I like is roast chicken.

Put a small, whole chicken in a roasting pan and bake at 350 degrees for an hour and a half and enjoy. The chicken will be juicy and delicious.
