Lesson Transcript

Shalom, everyone! My name is Yaara, and this is Weekly Hebrew Words, or Hebrew Weekly Words. And today we’re going to talk about Tableware. So let’s start!
1.
כוס
(kos) “cup”
כוס
(kos) is “cup” or glass as long as you’re referring to this.
אפשר לקבל כוס מים בבקשה?
(efshar lekabel kos mayim bevakasha)
“Can I get a glass of water, please?”
Thank you! I was so thirsty.
2.
צלחת
(tsalachat) “plate”
במסיבה יוונית שוברים צלחות
(bemesiba yevanit shovrim tsalachot)
“In a Greek party, you break plates”
I think so.
3.
קומקום לתה
(kumkum lete) “tea pot”
So
[קומקום]
(kumkum) it’s a funny word and that’s either a “tea pot” or a “kettle”.
הרתחתי מים בקומקום
(hertachti mayim bakumkum)
“I boiled water in the kettle” or in the teapot.
4.
ספל קפה
(sefel kafe) “coffee mug”
Like so. So
ספל קפה
(sefel kafe) for “coffee mug” or just
[ספל]
(sefel) for “mug”.
זה ספל הקפה האהוב עליי
(ze sefel hakafe ha'ahuv alay)
“This is my favorite coffee mug.”
5.
קנקן
(kankan) “pitcher”
It’s funny,
קנקן
(kankan) and
[ק]
(kumkum) if you remember.
אני רוצה להזמין קנקן לימונדה
(ani rotsa lehazmin kankan limonada)
“I want to order a lemonade pitcher.”
This is the end. We were talking about Tableware. Thank you so much for being with me for this episode. Leave me a comment below and go check out the site. Thanks! I’ll see you next week. Bye!

שלום!!

המילה האהובה עלי היא: ’קומקום לתה׳ אבל גם אני אוהבת ׳קומקום חשמלי׳.

תודה רבה על השיער!

שלום!

Hi קמילה,

Thanks for posting!

Note that "נהנה" is the verb "enjoy" in its masculine form, a female "נהנית" (pronounced: "nehenet")

Additionally, you used the word "helps" in the future tense, while the present "עוזר" is correct here...

Roi

אני נהנה ללמוד מילים כמו “קומקום“ ו“קנקן“ כי יש להם צליל מצחיק. זה יעזר לזכור אותן.

They do break plates at Greek parties. It is considered to be a display of wealth, although it sounds a bit counterintuitive. And dangerous.
