Dear Roi,

I agree. I will try to write down such a list of Greek and Hebrew words if I notice any similarity between them.๐Ÿ˜ I am still a beginner in Hebrew and my vocabulary is not any wide.

Yours

Marika

Dear Marika,

Thank you for your comment!

It does seem like these 3 ancient languages have influenced each other to a large extent, and similarities are abundant. It probably makes sense, as we know that there used to be commerce between all countries in the area already very early on, as well as cultural and religious influences or conflicts.

We also know that the old Testament was translated into Greek as early as the 3rd century BCE.

I think it will be very interesting to have a list of words in modern Greek that resemble modern Hebrew words (and share a meaning) - that would be very interesting and fun to speculate the reasons for, don't you agree? ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

Enjoy learning Hebrew!

Roi

Dear Roi,

thank you very much for your reply and the compliment๐Ÿ˜‡. I think there might be more similarities between both Hebrew and languages such as Greek and Latin . For example, in the Hebrew word for "milk" ื—ืœื‘ the first syllable is pronounced as a glottal explosive, if I am correct here. Expression for "milk" in both Classical and modern Greek is ฮณฮฌฮปฮฑ. In modern Greek the "ฮณ" before "ฮฑ" is also pronounced as a glottal explosive.

What is your opinion?

All the best,

Marika

Dear Marika,

Thank you for commenting and sharing this information!

Very interesting! I was actually not aware of this similarity so far. However, It well possible that there were some influences between the languages. This reminded me of the old similarity between "ื" (aleph) and "Alpha"...

Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ‘โค๏ธ๏ธ

Shalom Karen Willcox,

Lesson PDFs are currently available on our website for our audio and video lessons. For these lessons, you can download PDFs by clicking on the 'Download PDFs' button below the title which is the third round-shaped button. In most cases, we have downloadable PDFs, available for our premium members, which include Lesson Notes and Lesson Transcript. However, there are certain lesson series (particularly the advanced audio series) which do not include Lesson Notes onpurpose, and we have some lessons where there might be additional PDF resources, such as ebooks, to be downloaded.

Please note that downloadable and printable PDFs are also not available for vocabulary lists. If you have a Free Lifetime Account, please have a look at our detailed Help Center page at: https://www.HebrewPod101.com/helpcenter to get an overview of what your account entails.
