Dear Idit and Tom, Thank you for your lovely description and tom, for your question, We'd all love to taste it sometime. I don't care for american root beer either. It is an acquired taste.

Hi Tom!

The word for 'soft drink' (in singular) is: 'משקה קל'.

As for root beer, Yes! there is an excellent kind of root beer in Israel that is made like real bear, but is almost not fermented at all, so there is no alcohol content. It is sweet to the taste, but is still popular more with adults than with children. In Hebrew it is called 'בירה שחורה' (black beer, due to the color). It has a very natural and wholesome grain flavor, American root beer tastes a loot like toothpaste to me...

thanks!

Idit

Thank you, Yaara for your encouragement and for your help. I vaguely remembered shoko but didn't know how to spell it. Good to know that I don't have to make diet pepsi masculine or feminine. Is that correct? Also I don't have to have diet, the adjective, follow pepsi. lol about Arak-wonder if they sell it in the states and I can taste it and let you know what I think. I like most wines, but not a fan of beer, but if I drank it enough I could probably get used to it. I love most things sweet-like sweet drinks. Consequently, I have to watch my weight!

Hi Shelley,

Thank you for posting, your sentence is very good!

אני לא יודעת, אבל אני אוהבת לשתות שוקו ומשקאות מוגזים כמו דיאט פפסי. אני אף פעם לא טעמתי ערק, אבל זה נשמע טוב.

The changes I made:

"Chocolate milk" is simply called שוקו (shoko) - finally something is simpler in Hebrew than it is in English

"Diet pepsi" is the same in Hebrew, probably because it's a brand name.

אף פעם is literally "once" (even though it is used only in this negative phrase), so it must come with the word "not": אף פעם לא...

Finally, a personal word of advise: Arak is horrible :flushed:

Great job!

Sincerely,

Yaara
