Hi ืงืžื™,

Thanks for posting!

Yes, numbers in Hebrew can be confusing, mostly as they divided into masculine and feminine...

Can't give you any better tip than to simply train it... ๐Ÿ˜… you can try to memorize how to count from 1 to 20 (in the feminine and the masculine).

Please let us know if you have any questions or unclarities regarding the number system in Hebrew, we will be glad to assist ๐Ÿ‘

Best,

Roi

Hi Shelley,

Thanks for posting your questions.

In Hebrew, we use the feminine form for general counting, also when the numbers are above 10. Note that the ending "esre" is the feminine and "asar" is the masculine.

Please have a second look and let me know if further clarification is needed.

Yours,

Roi

Hi Rainer,

Thanks for posting!!

Yes, with numbers such as 51, we adjust the gender - for example: "ื—ืžื™ืฉื™ื ื•ืื—ืช ื™ืœื“ื•ืช" and "ื—ืžื™ืฉื™ื ื•ืื—ื“ ื™ืœื“ื™ื".

Hi, this may sound obvious but i just want to be sure, for irregular numbers after 20, say 51

Does the ืื—ืช/ืื—ื“ matter since they do not have gender agreements.

Shalom Roi, I recall that you mentioned that Israeli's count one in the masculine and the rest in feminine numbers. Am I remembering that correctly? This lesson starts with the feminine one and ends with the masculine ten, Esser. I remember learning to count this way also. so are we to count with the masculine one and all the rest as feminine numbers and then ten as masculine, Esser? Thanks for your clarification.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for posting :)

After 20, we count using โ€œveโ€ - Esrim ve'echad, Esrim ve'shtayim and so on...

There is no difference in the meaning of the variations (ve, u, va) - they all mean "and". The reason for this is a little complicated to explain in this stage, but it has to do with the letters and vowels of the following word.

Roi

When counting passed 20, do you always say "ve" for "and"? Or if not, what is the difference between "ve, u, va"?
