Hi, everyone, welcome to Top Hebrew Words! My name is Yaara and today's theme is 15 Questions You Should Know, so let's start!
1.
(me'eifo ata?) “Where are you from?"
And if you wanna ask a female, it’s מאיפה את (me'eifo at?)
(ani mi'Tel Aviv.) “I am from Tel Aviv.”
2.
(ben kama ata?) "How old are you?"
For a female it would be

(bat kama at?)
I’m not gonna answer that one.
3.
(ma shim'kha?) "What is your name?"
For a female it would be
(ma sh'mekh?)
A more common way of asking that would be,

(eikh kor-eem lekha?)
Or for a female,
(eikh kor-eem lakh?)
Which literally mean “how are you called?”
4.
(ma shlom'kha?) "How are you?"
Or
(ma shlomekh?)
for a woman, and this is “How are you?" “How do you feel?”
5.
(ma ze?) "What is this?"
Some people use it as “what?” like, “what did you say?” (ma ze?)
But most of the times it's used when you want to know what the thing is.
Excuse me, מה זה? (ma ze?)
6.
(ma amarta?) "What did you say?"
And for female,
(ma amart?)
(lo amarti klum.) “I didn't say anything.”
7.
(eifo ata oved?) "Where do you work?"
And for female,
(eifo at ovedet?)
8.
(eifo ha'sherutim?)
"Where is the bathroom?"
Memorize this one!
(eifo ha'sherutim?)
"Where is the bathroom?"
Excuse me, איפה השירותים?
(eifo ha'sherutim?)
9.
(eifo ata gar?) "Where do you live?"
Or for female,
(eifo at gara?)
10.
(matai yom ha'huledet shel'kha?) "When is your birthday?"
For female,
(matai yom ha'huledet shelakh?)
11.
(kama zman ata lomed ivrit?) "How long have you been studying Hebrew?"
For female,
(kama zman at lomedet ivrit?)
12.
(eifo lamadeta ivrit?) "Where did you learn Hebrew?"
Or for female,
(eifo lamadet ivrit?)
That’s an easy question! HebrewPod101.com!
13.

For female,

Well, have you?

I have never visited Israel, but I'm actually interested to visit Israel and that's why I'm learning Hebrew 😁. I am curious with your national air carrier, EL AL, food, and culture. Everything looks really great online. I hope I would be able to visit Israel real soon flying with EL AL 😜❤️️.

Yes, Israel's first official language is Hebrew, and it is talked by the vast majority of the population :)

I visited Israel in 2018 and will be going again soon. The first time I went, I was surpised to find out that Hebrew was the language spoken by most. Even though English is on all signs, I wanted to learn Hebrew.

I don't know what my favorite Israeli dish is, but the fish at St. Peters in TIberias was pretty good!

Hi Joshua and Adnan,

Thanks for posting!

@Adnan - no worries! glad I could help! 😄

@Joshua - Well... HebrewPod101 is us! Note that the proper romanization of 101 would be "Echad efes echad" in Hebrew, not "echod". The vowels are very important and can't be replaced with each other...😁

Woops.

I was aware of that. It seems that I have mistyped. Silly me.

Nevertheless, Roi, I appreciate you correcting me and reminding me when to use what.

Thanks.

Hi Adnan,

Thanks for commenting!

Did you mean to say that you'd like to visit Germany? If so, the Hebrew phrase should be "אני רוצה לבקר בגרמניה"

German = גרמנית

Germany = גרמניה
