Thanks for posting!
Unfortunately, Hebrew doesn't distinguish between "boyfriend" and "friend" (or between "girlfriend" and "friend" (female)). For that reason, many unmarried adults tend to use the word "partner" instead of "boyfriend" or "girlfriend".
You make a good point about the picture - it might be misleading as "חבר" is the masculine "friend" (or boyfriend), while the feminine is "חברה".
I will forward this issue for review.
Thanks and happy learning!
Is there a reason for having separate entries for חבר (friend, masc.) and חבר (boyfriend)? Also, why does the photo for חבר show two women? Is חבר a generic friend, or is it a friend who is a male?
Hi Nina and sunil,
@Nina - great to hear! that means you're definitely on the right track 😉👍👍
@sunil - I'm not sure two which 2 words you were referring to in your comments - 'lalekhet' is the romanization for "ללכת", but 'lalekeht' doesn't seem like a valid Hebrew word... can you clarify you meaning?
Happy learning, and keep up the great work!
It seems lalekhet walk and lalekeht go have the same meanings as well as morah and rabbi.I guess it is to be used in the context and the meaning which i guess is the missing link which comes easy later on when the integration has set in.Thanks for the info as copying the niggud words is good practice with the english words so that the pronouncation and reading abilities can be checked.
Thank you. I was pleased that I was familiar with them all!! 😁
We're glad you've enjoyed the lesson! Please make sure to let us know in case you have any questions 👍👍
