In the lesson’s video at min 00:14 the instructor says "עדיין לא יצא לי לטוסבמחלקה ראשונה.", but should have said "עדיין לא יצא לי ליסוע במחלקה הראשונה."
Hello, everyone! Welcome to Weekly Hebrew Words. I’m Idit and today, we’re going to talk about In an Airplane; words that you use when you’re traveling in the air.
1.
(machlaka rishona) “first class”
(adain lo yatsa li latus bemachlaka rishona)
“I still didn't have the chance to travel in first class.”
Yeah, I don’t know about you guys. Did you ever had like the happy accidents when they have to upgrade your ticket to first class or something? Because it never happened to me and I’ll tell you what, it looks really, really good, especially when you’re travelling far away in like a 12-hour flight and you just, you know, you just want to lay down. I love it, hmm.
2.
(machleket nosyim) “economy class”
(bederech klal k'sheani tasa, ze bemachleket nosyim)
“Usually when I'm traveling, it's in economy class.”
This is my reality right now. When I travel it’s economy class, but it’s fine, you know, I’m in a box, in the air. I’m getting to someplace new and exciting. You know, it’s just something you have to endure until you get to do really fun stuff.
3.
(chagorat habetihut) “seat belt”
(adif shebizman sheata yoshev shetisgur et chagorat habetihut)
“It's better, while you’re sitting down, to close the seat belt.”
Do you guys do that? I always have it closed when I’m sitting down, but, you know, it doesn’t say much because usually when I get on a plane, I kind of fall asleep before even take off so I don’t really have the chance to open it back, hmm.
4.
מושב
(moshav) “seat”
(hamoshav haze lo nish'an achora, yesh moshav acher panui?)
“This seat doesn't lean back; is there any other seat available?”
Every person’s nightmare. You just want to catch some ZZZ while you’re on the plane and your seat doesn’t lean back and you have to sit like this the entire flight, you know, like a mummy.
5.
דייל
(dayal) “flight attendant”
(karati ladayal, aval hu adain lo ba)
“I’ve called the flight attendant, but he still didn’t shown up.”
Usually, flight attendants are women so in male it’s
דייל
(dayal) but in female it’s
(dayelet) which actually you’re probably going to use more
(dayelet) for a woman.
So thank you everyone! Let me know in the comments below about your experiences from flying and what do you feel about it and your experiences may be from first class and I will see you all next week for more Weekly Hebrew Words. Bye!
