Yaara: Oh! Didn’t see you there! Hi! Everyone! Welcome to Hebrew weekly words. My name is Yaara, and today we are going to talk about medicine.
1.
(trufa) "medicine"
(hayiti ħola, az lakaħti trufa.)
"I was sick, so I took medicine."
2.
(aspirin) "aspirin"
(kaħ shne aspirin ve-titkasher elai ba-boker.)
“Take two aspirin and call me in the morning."
3.
(mirsham) "prescription"
(lo tzarikh mirsham bish'vil ha-trufa ha-zot.)
“You don't need a prescription for this medicine."
Some people when they ask for recipe they ask for (mirsham), which i think is weird, it always sounds so medical to me.
4.
(sirop le'shi'ul) "cough syrup"
The other day I just had a cocktail that tasted like cough syrup, it was blue.
(la-kokteil ha-ze yesh ta'am shel sirop le-shi'ul!)
“Ew! This cocktail tastes like cough syrup!"
Cough syrup with a little paper umbrella on it.
5.
(trufa le'tzinun) "cold medicine"
(kshe-at yo'tzet, al tish'keħi et ha-trufa le-tzinun shelakh.)
“When you go out, don't forget your cold medicine."
That's it for today, thank you so much for watching! And remember, an apple a day keeps anyone away if you throw it hard enough! Leave us your comments below, and don’t forget to check out the site, we’ll see you next week. Bye!
I'm afraid of needles, I faint in blood test, that’s it, I said it. And “cough” in hebrew is monkey, so it's monkey syrup, that sounds so much fun. What is your favorite medicine?
